The Lazy Lagoon: This is a laid-back, Island-funky sort of place facing directly on the yacht basin in St. Georges harbor, Grenada. It is my favorite - perhaps because it was the first place I stayed in town. A fellow named Nigel runs it (he's Canadian). At last count it had 6 huge rooms, each with a kitchenette, large bathroom w/shower and a front porch. Every room now even has hot water! More cottages were scheduled for construction. Nigel's is a first-rate chef and the fare (whatever he feels like cooking that day) at the little restaurant is always wonderful. The bar (called "The Horny Baboon") is somewhat of a local hang-out - always interesting people. It has been completely reconstructed since hurricane Ivan tore it apart in '04 and it is bigger and better than ever. Rates are reasonable, too. ($50 per night per couple.) Be sure to tell them we sent you. Probably won't do you any good, but its still a nice thought! website: http://www.grenadaexplorer.com/lazylagoon/ e-mail: lazylagoon@caribsurf.com Tropicana Hotel: Also facing the yacht basin, this is a more typical hotel. All rooms have A/C and TV. There is a very nice restaurant and bar on premises. A little more pricey at $71 per night. tropicana@caribsurf.com Caribbean Cottage Club (Sometimes better known to cabbies as the Mona Lisa Restaurant): A delightful place we've recently discovered run by a very pleasant French lady named Vittoria - and the restaurant is really good. Prices reasonable, too. www.grenadacottages.com
